Oakenshaw has a rich and varied history beginning before the Norman Conquest and has had many changes over
the centuries. Oakenshaw History Group meet regularly and have produced a number of interesting booklets which are available for £1 from local shops in the village. They are currently working on a new publication.
We are fortunate in that the Low Moor History Group also has interesting information on Oakenshaw and they are a valuable source of information. In addition they hold regular lectures on local history which can be seen from the notice board in Victoria Park. There is further information on the local sblha website.
